  1. If u are on a tight budget how will you afford the bills shots and stuff youre crazy:P

  2. There are many websites, such as Ag.Direct, Horsetopia, Dreamhorse, and others, and you could find one for as little as 2 or 3 hundred dollars. But such a horse might have many problems that could be very expensive to correct, and cause you heartbreak in the process. A better route would be to LEASE a horse from a reputable stable for a period of at least a month, longer if possible, to see if you get along. Not every horse is for every person and its personality could clash with yours.. Another possibility is to "half-board" with someone - you both get to ride, and split the expenses (and it's the expenses that get you - vet bills, shoes, show entry fees, your riding gear, the horse's "clothes", etc. etc. etc.). If you half-board, you must have a contract clearly setting out the conditions, responsibilities, term, and liability if there are accidents. You should have liability insurance against any damage to persons or property the horse may cause.

Like marriage. horse ownership is not to be entered into lightly or frivolously!

There are many good books on buying your first horse. Do some reading and research before you take the plunge. And remember the saying: "You can make a small fortune in horses - if you start with a large fortune!"

  3. If you own your own property and have a suitable pasture and barn/shelter, then you can buy a horse affordibly. BUT you would have to take in consideration of vaccinations, hay and grain (or just hay in the winter if you have a large grass pasture). I am guessing though that you do not own your own place. The average cost of boarding a horse per month is around $375. Now add in the farrier about $50, every other month (without shoes), vet bills about $300 a year. I would take in all considerations of how much you can spend per year on those things. Horses are a LOT of money and committment.

If you can pay for all of that, then some sites are DreamHorse, freehorseads, craigslist; etc.

  4. supergentlehorses.com

they are in Gilbert Arizona and generally don't have horses priced over 4,000

they have both English and western horses.

they have more for western tho.

on there website they  have pics of English horses but i don't see any English horses for sale.

well i hope i helped you out!

  5. There are many fees that come along with buying a horse. If you are on a tight budget but really want your own horse, I recommend leasing once for a bit.

But www.dreamhorse.com is goood. (so i heard)

  6. www.petfinder.com     Hope you know that the cost of the horse is the cheapest thing - it's the food, pasture, vet, tack, shoes, etc. that cost.  Please consider before buying.

  7. If you're on a tight budget maybe you shouldn't be buying a horse.

  8. Go to a local barn and help out in order to free lease a lesson horse.  Some barns will trade work for lessons and lease options.  Owning a horse is not cheap and if you have to do it cheap the horse loses out every time...

    Good Luck,

    EM

  9. I find www.horsemart.co.uk useful or also www.thehorseexchange.com. The latter has horses for sale from all over the world for wherever you live. However I do agree that if you're on a tight budget you shouldn't really think of buying a horse. Hope that helps

  10. horses are expensive and not for peole on a budget. First you have vet fees which can range from any costs. Then you have farrier fees (mine are $40 every six weeks. though it varies when your horse needs shoes and if it does). Then you have to purchase tack (saddles, bridles, etc)which can run you up into the thousands. Then riding gear for you, which can run into the thousands. Brushes and grooming tools can run into the hundreds. Feed, such as grains, can run from $10 to $40 for a 50lb bad. Horses usually go through a bag every two or so weeks. Then if you don't have two acres for your horse (two acres is about how much land you need to prevent pasture detriation) you'll need hay which can run you into the hundreds since horses need roughages 24/7 to help prevent stomach ulcers and other conditions. Anyway you'll need hay for the winter and you'll probably need another two acres to rotate pasture. Which of course costs money. Then if your horse needs any supplements thats about another $20 or so. Then you'll need fence for your horse, a water source, and other accesories (such as stalls, wash racks, etc) which will run you into the thousands. Horses are alot of money, easily running into the thousands per month. They are expensive. All in all a horse costs at a minimum can cost 12,000 to 14,000 dollars a year. unless you plan to starve your horse dont get one.

  11. on a tight budget to buy or in general?

if it is in general then DONT buy a horse! they need money spending on them  at an stupid rate :S

  14. well you shouldent be buying a horse if you are on a tight budget, because buying a horse is the cheap bit looking after it is the expensive bit. So eevn if you buy a horse that is 1,000 it will cost you 10 times as much in the long run to look after it. But you can buy a book called Horse Deals it is very good it has a catargory with horse under or $1,000. It is a very good book it also has where the horse under or $1,000 is it has some pages on horse in victoria, queensland so on are for sale. it is good buy it. but i wouldnnt recommend buying a horse.
