I want to buy a kayak that is stable and good for fishing in a lake, which style is best?

Generally speaking, the wider the kayak and the flatter the bottom, the more stability you will have.  Keep in mind stability usually is a trade off for speed and tracking.

There are several sit on top models which are specificly designed for kayak fishing.  Here's a few from Ocean Kayak
