Now that gas is so high, what should i look for in a new car? I'm looking for a 4 door car that doesn't need as much gas, so then that means I should stay away from the 6 cylinder, right? What other things do i have to avoid in a car so it doesnt eat my wallet on gas?

  1. it you also want to have more $ in your wallet, dont buy brand new.  nothing depreciates faster than a new car, it's like throwing money away.  look at 3 yr old cars and get a warranty, it will save you lots.

  2. usually the higher the cyl the lower the gas mileage.

4's today are spunky and more so often than 6s.

civic, colbalt, focus, corrollas are all good on gas

  3. You should get a 4 cylinder engine, but you won't have the get up and go with it like you would a 6 cylinder. I drive a Ford Escape and I just plan my route and if I need to stop at the store I do it on my way home. It cost me $55.00 dollars to fill up last night, but that should last me about 10 days if I don't go out of town. The only thing I regret is it is an all wheel drive so I definitely get less gas mileage with it.

  4. dont get a hummer.

  5. Cars to avoid:

    Hummers

    Cadillac Escalade

    Ford Explorer

    Ford Expledition

    Dodge Nitro

    Dodge ram

    Toyota Land Crusier

    Mitsubishi Pajero/Shogun

    Nissan Terrano

    Nissan Pathfinder

    Nissan Patrol

    ALL Land rovers

    Cars recommended:

    VW Golf/Rabbit

    VW Jetta

    Toyota Yaris

    Toyota Camry Hybrid

    Toyota Prius

    Honda Fit

    Honda Civic Hybrid

  6. 4 cylinder car, 2 litre or less. Manual transmission uses less fuel than auto, and is much better with smaller engines, but avoid if you've never driven one.

Then, use the net to research the MPG for the models you're looking at.

  7. I know them pontiac g5 and the g6's are good on gas. My friend just bought a g5 and it is great on gas. It has a 4 cylinder. A 6 cylinder is still ok, (of course 4 is cheaper)

If you can live with a 2 door, I say go with a g5.

  8. Nissan Altima, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla are all good on gas.. 4 cylinder it just depends, test drive the car if you are unsure about it lagging or not having enough jump for you. Sometimes they just run different..

  9. Go get a car with a small engine then...
