i tend to hook the ball or over compensate and hit a high fade. i want to get a driver that will make me bad shots playable. i hit it about 280 yards average so distance is not a problem. i just wanna hit more fairways. your comments will be helpful

  1. You may help eliminate some of the over-corrections with a heavier shaft. You may find it can help smooth out your swing, and any loss of swing speed could very well be balanced off by added consistency. If you like the Aldila, you could try a 75, or better yet, an 85 gram shaft same NV model... http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_p...

Even a light weight, high launch steel shaft would give a similar change of pace (literally) and would do so at as much cheaper experiment. When I put a steel shaft into my driver last season I lost a consistent 10-15 yards (280ish to 260-270ish) but more than doubled my fairways hit...

I know that a trusted club is a very valuable one, but if you prefer forgiveness over workability you might also consider checking out some newer driver heads. There's nothing wrong with your Titleist at all, but it does lend it's self to helping you move the ball a little. Anyway, best of luck.

  2. Go to the golf shop and hit a bunch.

  3. I would suggest going to a golf store and testing out like 8 ones that u like (after research of course), narrow this down to 5, then go home think about it come back hit the 5 narrow it to 2, then make ur decision

So ones i would suggest are the titliest D1. Very forgiving club which i personally own.  This club like throws the ball into the fairway. accurate, forgiving, and even great to look at

Callaway Ft-i.  I dont like callaways but i have heard great things about it.

Nike Sumo2.  Again a very accurate and forgiving club

If distance is not ur problem and u are looking for accuracy i would suggest looking into clubs that have the "odd lookin square and triangular heads" as they provide extreme accuracy without a lose of distance.

  4. save a ton of money . try launch moniter they will be able to fit you with proper shaft for your swing . it is very rare at your distance any factory installed shaft would work , it also will save you over 400 bucks , you have a great head just as good as anything available , just a suggestion but you may find out with shaft change , you will have a club that will out perform , newer ones . good luck . no offence intended

  5. yep. I had the same club exactly and before that the 975J. All great clubs I even enjoyed hitting them both off the deck.I have now gone to a 905r with the 65g speeda shaft stiff flex. What a dream to hit. I hit it out of this world. Not as far as the 983k but d**n is it straighter. So good being in play. Titliest the way to go.

  6. Bubble burner...It's Taylor Made.

  7. Launch monitors are great tools to use when looking to get new drivers.  They tell you your launch angle, club head speed, ball speed, and what your are getting for a power transfer ratio.  So, you need to go to a local shop with a launch monitor and try out different clubs while using the machine.  The great thing is it will give you averages as you go so get warmed up and hit 10 balls with the machine with each club.  As far as forgivness I would try out the Ping G 10, Titileist D2, Callaway FT5, or one of the new NIKE drivers.

  8. Sounds like you already have a great club. What I did was developed a good relationship with my local golf shop, they would let me leave them some money for them to keep and they would let me take any already hit driver I wanted. I would take 4 different drivers at a time to the driving range where you are not hitting into some net, you can really get a good feel for the clubs.(make sure you tape up the face). For me the best club was the taylormade 425 r7, this club has more pop to it then anything I have ever hit, and yes the MWT does make a difference (believe me). I swing very fast so I took the club and had the Adila NV 65 X-TRA STIFF and have hit some long bombs with this club, even if I don't catch the sweet spot it still just keeps going. Give this club a try I think you will love it. GOOD LUCK TO YOU I hope you find what you are looking for!!!!P.S. once you get the weights in the club set in 8 of 10 shots are going to be in the fairway,or very close. My shots go streight even when I hit them off the heal of the club.

  9. The January 08 issue of Golf Magazine tested 6 models:  The TaylorMade Burner, Ping G10 Draw, Srixon Z-RW, Mizuno MX560, Nike Sasquatch Sumo2 5900, and the Titleist 907 D2.  It found that the Ping G10 had the farthest carry of all the drivers tested.  There was a 6 yard difference between the driver that carried the shortest(the Titleist) and the Ping.  The Nike was 5 yards shorter, the Taylor Made was 4 yards shorter, the Srixon was a yard shorter, the Mizuno was 2 yards shorter.  The Nike's ball flight was the highest of all the drivers while the Srixon's ball flight was the lowest.  Overall the Titleist was selected as the winner of the test.

  10. Go to a well run, well stocked pro shop and get a fitting. It'll be the best thing you ever did for your game, and will save money in the long run. You'll have a driver that's just right for your game and you won't have to keep buying new ones.
