I want to buy a pig?

Question

i want to buy a pig and keep it as a pet but i need to know where to get one and how much it will cost and the laws on pigs and i want to know wat types of pigs i can get i want one that will stay small for its life type not too big

Um, where I live, you can't have pigs in town....like where neigbor hoods are. You must live on the outskirts, or out in the open, if you wanna have a piggy. I don't know about your laws.

I think there's a breed called a pot belly pig? I'm not sure. :\ Look up something on google, that relates to small pigs. But make sure you'll ACTUALLY take care of it. >>'

pot belly pigs are suitable for pets, BUT NEVER buy from anyone saying their are "MINIS" because those are stunted and will NOT live long.. their insides will keep growing but their outsides will not...

i think most pigs get quite large, if you don't know about how to go about getting one i'm gonna guess that you really wouldn't be able to handle the care, they're cute and fun for the first year maybe, after that all they wanna do is lay down and sleep and eat. They are very expensive to feed and they eat plenty, the phrase "eats like a pig" wasn't made up for no good reason.

well there are all kinds of pigs. Some can grow HUGE while others can grow to about the size of a mini - australian shepherd. You can get one from livestock auctions, farms, some pet stores, shelters (www. petfinder.com), and maybe a local newspaper ad?. It'll cost probally around $30 a month to feed it. You also have to buy shelter like a dog house which'll cost about $50 - $200. Not to mention some kind of pen or fencing which can cost about $100 - $300+.  I dont think there are any laws that say you cant own a pig but there may be some laws on what size/breed pig you can own in your area, just check with your townhall. As for specific breeds, I dont really know  many but my friend used to have a fairly small pig but Im not sure on the breed. I'll check and post back here when I find out.
