I want to buy a prepaid SIM card for my phone in the U.S. What is the best brand and where do I buy it?

I have fallen in love with the Chinese system of buying a SIM card and then buying vouchers to top off the card whenever needed. It is very simple and inexpensive and allows for changes in calling habits. Is there anything similar in the US?

here is a site i found online i don't know alot about this so check it all out.. I don't know were you live in the US but make sure you are in an area that uses the GSM network. where i live all we have mostly is the CDMA instead.  T-moble, cingular are two companies that might have them also you would have to check their sites
