I want to buy this http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-X-540-5-1-Speaker-System/dp/B000JJM8XE/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1L6SWBAUI4IJN&colid=CDAZ8A4FCH8G

Do I need to buy a receiver for it? I can't find this information on the site, and would like to know for future reference.

  1. Those are speakers meant to be used with a computer. One of the amazon.com reviews notes that the wires that are built into the speakers are very short, so theres no way that you're going to be able to place them to fill a room.

You should consider spending real money (Say, $400-$500) to get a good entry level 5.1 receiver, and a good home audio set of speakers. You can find both on amazon.com, and theres one good deal with a 5.1 set of Polk speakers, #6750, going for about $230 plus some shipping.

  2. Considering that it is a PC system it was meant to be used with a PC.

Others have used similar systems (with a hook up nightmare) to a source device, however the audio that results is not that good. I recommend that you look at other systems.

  3. If you wish to obtain some information bout this matter then you better visit http://www.trvidcom.com.au/ there products revolved around computers and audio visual equipments. Hope this would be of great help

  4. That is for a computer.  Pick something else out.
