I want to buy a system for my car but i don't know much about them besides you need and amp speakers n subs ..

i dont want to spend a crazy amount of money but a good amount. what would be a good choice of products.

The term a lot of money means a lot of different things to different people.  It all depends on what you want your system to sound like and how much you want to spend.  You will probably want a aftermarket stereo to start things out.  Any Cd deck from Alpine or Kenwood should be reliable and capable of delivering good sound quality.  Look for stereos that have a separate sub woofer channel so that you have more adjustability in the sound of your system.  When it comes to speakers you want to match them to their power source.  You can run them off the stereo or off of an external amp for the best sound quality.  When matching them look at the power handling ability, the RMS rating.  This is more accurate then peak power as it is the most realistic estimate of how much power a speaker can handle.  Try to keep them close in rating, like 22rms power source and 20 rms speakers.  To run the subwoofer you will need an external amplifier as it needs more power to produce noticeable sound then full range speakers.  Like the speakers try and find a sub and amplifier that have close to the same rms rating.  MTX, Kenwood, Alpine and JL Audio all make reputable subs.  The enclosure will have a great deal of effect as to the overal sound of the sub.  A bandpass box will produce the maximum amount of bass with less accuracy then the other types of enclosures.  A sealed box will produce the least amount of sound with the greatest amount of accuracy, and a ported box will be somewhere in between.  You might want to narrow down a budget and talk to a sales rep from crutchfield for the best results.  Go to www.crutchfield.com for more information plus they have ratings on many of their products so you can see input from people who have installed a particular product you are interested in.
