I recently found a house that has been abandon. It looks like it has been a couple of years since anyone lived there. It still has some furniture but someone has broke in and trashed it out. I am very interested in buying this home but I have no idea how to find the current owners. The house is located in Alabama. Any tips would be helpful!

  1. Recorder of Deeds, property appraiser office.  Call those two to start. All land records are public, and then proceed. A bank may even own it, ask the City Clerk. Check tax rolls, etc

  2. City's clerk office in that city, town etc.

  3. City hall would probably be best bet...

  4. the city hall would have records of the owners or even if the state own it.

  5. Look on the internet for the county auditor's office. Where I live, I can  look up the county auditor's website, enter an address and it will tell me who owns the property, when they bought it, how much they paid for it, what the property taxes are, when the taxes were paid and so no and so forth. If your county auditor doesn't offer this info on their website maybe they can tell you over the phone. Good Luck!

  6. Go to county recorders office with street address of property you're interested in. They can look up the present owner and other info.
