I want to buy crabs. What do I need to know before I buy them?

What do i need to know before i buy them? Im planning to buy two. I have a 2.5 gallon tank, Water Filter,pebbles, and I Have a small bottle of tap water dechloinator that a lady at petsmart told me to get. Is that all i need? ANd what do I need to know about them? Like what temperature should the water be? What kind of food can I give them? Do they attack the hand that feeds them? The more information the better. Please and thank you for your time

the crabs your talking about are called fiddler crabs did the lady at the petsmart also tell you they will climb out of the tank did she tell you that if you donot cycle the tank completly before you put them in it that because they are at the bottom of the tank the ammonia level will kill them before it would even kill a fish

they will not attack you at all and a small pinch of fish food every 3 days is all they need for food since they are a scavanger

ok, scratch that 2.5 gallon tank and get a 10, I know that sounds like a lot, but with proper care hermit crabs can get quite big! Here is a VERY good sight on hermit crab care!
