  1. Callaway drivers are fantastic. However, like all golf clubs the most important thing is that they are the right size for him. If it is a gift, get him a gift card for a couple hundred (the best drivers are even more expensive) or you could just take him on an outing to the golf pro shop and have the pro there size him up.

  2. If your BF has been playing golf for at least 7+ years already, don't get him one...give him a gift cert.

You are very sweet in just the thought of giving him such a gift...wonderful heart you have...keep in mind, that just because a driver is ment for one person, it just may not be right for him...it would be heartbreaking to both of you, if the driver didn't work out for the better.

You can let him decide, and let him bear the effects on his game on his judgement.  You gave him a wonderful gift...an opportunity to get a driver of his choice (within reason of course) and if he is one unselfish cookie, he will search for a top quality used driver online and spare you the cost of a "new priced driver"...then you will know, that he still has the thought of your finacial interest in mind.

  3. I have not read many reviews regarding the FT-i.  Nike makes a similar driver.  I think both are excellent.

  4. Take him to a d**k's Sporting Goods or Golf Galaxy (or some place similar), like your non-chalantly window shopping.  Call ahead so the guys that do the custom fitting know what to expect.  You can kind of "trick" him into getting fit for his new driver.  He'll never be the wiser until he gets his new driver!

  5. Get him a gift cert. for a fitting at a pro shop.He will get what he wants and you will be free of the worry of making a bad choice.

  6. I play with a bunch of friends every week.  During the past few years, most of these golfers have switched and switched  and switched drivers and irons.  One of them had a great set of ping clubs but changed them because he wasnt able to get good results.

Bottom line is this, all these answers on Yahoo are not going to help you one bit.  Go to a golf store (not walmart or anyplace like that) where they have a net where you can actually hit balls into.   Try a number of drivers to see which one feels the best and buy it.

    What do you think?

  7. The Callaway FT-i Is a fantastic Driver. It is long off the tee, yet very very accurate. The shape of the head can take a while to get used to, but once you do, you'll think standard 460cc heads look odd.

Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els and Michael Campbell are just two of the Callaway Tour Staff who frequently use this Driver.

  8. I would say Cleveland Launcher, you really get a good swing and excellent contact.  Callaway in my opinion is overrated.  If he is an amateur, go with 10 degree, if he is better go with 9.5, 9.0, or even 8.  Hope this helps

  9. Let him pick out his own driver. There has to be  some features which he would want like lie angle, swing weight, shaft flex and feel all of which are personal preferences.

  10. Agree that for his present, you will take him to the golf pro-shop and he can pick out any driver he likes. The FTi is a fine club (so they say) but that doesnt make it right for everyone.

Let you boyfriend choose the club with the help of an experienced club fitter.

  11. The Callaway Drivers are good, I have the Callaway FT 3 10 degrees in mens regular and it works really good.

    Have a good one...

  12. Taylor Made TP last year model. If you want to really suprise him go on to Ebay and look for  a TP with a B stamp. these heads are CORE tested and are conisdered there best heads. They give  these heads to the Tour players. You might get just the head and have it shafted with a really great shaft. I own one of these heads and I can tell you he won't be dissapointed.
