i want to buy my friend a Nintendo Wii Shock Wave Wireless Controller but i don't know if it's worth it? i was gonna buy him a wii remote but its too expensive is it anything like a wii remote? what games does it work with best?

The only way you can tell if its worth it is to ask them if they want it, because it works for some games and works for most Virtual Console games.

I'd ask them first, because they may not need it.

...that's a Gamecube controller hon. I realize that they're putting the Wii label on it, but that's because a handful of Wii games are compatible with Gamecube controllers (like Super Smash Bros Brawl). Just look at it; it doesn't look anything like a Wii Remote, so how could it be the same technology? The Wii Remote is a motion-sensing device. This "Shockwave" looks exactly like the controllers made for the Gamecube. Plus, it's not made by Nintendo, so I personally wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

If he has a Wii, just get him a standard Wii Remote with the "Made by Nintendo" seal of authenticity. No offense, but if you know this little about gaming consoles, you're just going to embarrass yourself if you try to get something generic.
