I want to get it as a gift for her bday and it isn't until October so I have some time to think about what I want to get. Can someone help me decide...?

  1. It depends on if she's a serious player or not. If it's something she won't often use, you might as well go cheaper. If it'll matter more, go for a well known brand such as Gibson or Fender. You should talk to an employee about a guitar store about it, really, they should be able to help you with size, color, quality, etc.

  2. It all depends on how much you want to spend. For a" good" guitar $300.00 to $400.00 is about the bottom of the barrel. Good guitars in this price range could be Samick's "Greg Bennett Signature" series, Epiphone Hummingbird and Dove models. I've owned both of these and they are both good guitars when set-up properly. The Samick's are a little better quality with better playability from the factory. If your budget is larger then the sky's the limit. Taylor guitars start around $1000.00 and go up to around $6000.00. Martin's go for $900.00 to around $4000.00. <www.musiciansfriend.com> is a good place to look and compare guitars. They also have the best prices. Hope this helped. Have a good day.

  3. If it's her first acoustic guitar, I would suggest getting her something a little inexpensive until you're sure she's actually gonna play it. my first acoustic was a Johnson.

If it's not her first, try a Taylor, or an acoustic Ibanez with a pick up. Those sound superb.

  4. Take her to a music store so she can choose her own. It's a highly personal choice, only she can make it.

Why not get her a gift certificate and give it to her on a nice lunch (in a restaurant chosen to be near the store of course)?
