Just some basic simple cycling shoes. Not the kind that clip. I don't like riding in my running shoes. Any suggestions for a beginner?

  1. There used to be a good number of companies that made "touring" cycle shoes. Super stiff soles intended to work with toe cages on the pedals. There are few companies that make them now, but you can look around. Performance used to make great ones. Specialized still makes some I think. Look into ebay pairs like these

  2. I would go with novaras

  3. Bike shoes are designed to be used with clipless pedals.  If you don't want to use clips than any shoe that you like will work.  Cycling shoes for road bikes have hard bottoms if you don't use clips your feet will slide right off the pedals due to a lack of grip on the bottom.  Look at some mountain bike shoes they have a stiff bottom but regular bottoms that will work with regular pedals better than a road shoe.

  4. you need to look at answer bmx shoes they are stiff with a rubber sole but you have to cut out the rubber for clips but if you are not using clips just leave the sole alone and you have a stiff bottum shoe, great for cycling, ride on.
