I want to buy somebodys pet

ok so yesterday i was out with friends and we were walking home a reallllyyyy friendly cat came out of the bushes and i picked her up and checked for a collar or tags. she had neither. i then checked if she had claws, she still had them. i even checked to see if she had a scar from being spayed, nope. i figured she was a friednly stray so i brought her home. the next day, i brought her to the vet to see if maybe she had a microchip. she had one, the owner was contacted and he brought her home. the thing is, the owner could care less about the cat. but in the one night i hung out with the cat, i really bonded with her. she is the cutest and most friendly cat i have ever known. i have the owners number, since he called to thank me.

i want to buy or adopt the cat from him....how should i ask?

i dont want to be pushy or hassle him.

It's his cat, it's probably and inside/outside cat and that's how you found it, or it got outside. If he came and picked it up, and called to thank you I'm sure he cares for it. Most people who let their cats outside don't put collars or tags on them because they may get stuck or hang themselves in a tree. Also, not all cats are de-clawed, so just because the cat has claws doesn't mean it's a stray. It also could have been a male, which is why you didn't see the spay scar, the spay scar does fade over time. You should go to local rescue and "bond" with a cat there and adopt it, you just can't ask people to have their pets.
