On a recent trip to east TX we drove past a windmill farm. How do I find out which company owns these windmills so that I can invest? I trully believe renewal energy is the wave of the future.

  1. johnson& johnson  like they make windex and stuff like that.

their factorie is bassically ran from garbage.

well, methane gas but pretty much same thing.

    research it some more.

  2. Here is a link showing many of the operators of the wind farms in Texas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_power_...

Note that the manufacturers of the wind turbines are also shown in the chart.  Do you want to invest in the operators of the wind farms, which are utilities or sell power to utilities, or do you want to invest in the manufacturers of the wind turbines?

I have had very good success investing in two major wind turbine manufacturers, Vestas and Gamesa.  You can see their track record on Yahoo Finance.  These are foreign companies, but it is possible to invest in them through a U.S. broker.  Some other manufacturers, such as G.E., Siemens and Mitsubishi manufacture wind turbines as a small part of their business, but they are not "pure plays" in wind.

If you want less risk, there are now ETFs (similar to mutual funds) that invest only in wind, such as FAN, and there are an increasing number of ETFs specially in renewable energy, some of which have an emphasis in a number of wind energy  companies. such as PBD.
