  1. rich *****

  2. MCO is Manufacturers' Certificate of Origin.  This is required when the bike is a custom job, and not a production bike.

    Good luck.

  3. to get it licensed you have to get an affidavit form from the dmv. Then you have to bring it to a certified mechanic and a public official witness to have them sign off that it is safe and legal. you have to have receipts for everything also. Its a real pain in the rear I am going through it right now for a bike I built.

  4. MSO= manufacturers statement of origin... MCO=manufacturers certificate of origin... simply lets the authorities know that a licensed (if necessary) company built your engine... your trans (unless attached to the engine like HD twin cam B) and your frame. Frame most important for obvious reasons. The only difference on a production bike is the vehicle manufacturer KEEPS the MSO's and issues their own VIN number for the bike. That way you trace the MSO's through the VIN. So you should have 3 MSO's for you bke OR 1 MSO from the licensed manufcturer of the chopper... if that is the case there should be a VIN number on the front down tube. If the guy selling the bike doesn't have one or the other... DON'T buy it... 'cause you can't get it afterwards.

  5. only thing I can think of is manufacturers satement of origin on the engine cases and frame which means a special construction. the only down side to a custom build is that its hard to get insurance and you can only get liability unless you pay a LOT for full coverage. I have a custom panhead and went through all this.
