I want to buy used VHS player.Can it work on my new Samsung TV..?help me..?

The problem is my friend say that a VHS player can only work with older TV that use PAL system..I think that my new TV used NTSC system...help me...

    Where do you live? Only North America and Japan uses NTSC. Why would you have in the past a PAL and now an NTSC TV?
