I want to change colleges but my mom doesn't want me to?

Right now I go to a four year college and I'm a freshman. My major is fashion design and I thought we would do some more hands on things when I started but I don't get to take any of those courses until junior year! I was really disappointed although my mom is acting like I already should have known that but I didn't. Anyway I was thinking of transferring to this school in LA called FIDM since you get to do hands on stuff right away but my mom doesn't want me to because she doesn't think it's a good school but it does seem like one. Does anyone know anything about FIDM? And is it a good idea to change schools either way

  1. You are exactly right! Going to FIDM for fashion design is by far the best choice than going to any college out there. The school has an awesome reputation in the fashion industry and you can tell your mom that. I would also tell her that a lot of famous fashion designers graduated from FIDM including Monique Lhuiller and one of the founders of Juicy Couture among others. The advisors at the school are great with talking to parents because that's what they do! My friends went to FIDM and they've gone so far in their careers and FIDM has really helped them out. The school also has a killer career center that helps students find internships and jobs. I can't believe that the school you're going to for fashion design isn't having you do hands on projects because after all, isn't that how you learn? So your instincts are right about being at a school where you're doing more hands on projects and learning more. Talk to an advisor and see if they can answer any questions yourself or your mom have. Good Luck!
