  1. Well if you are online, open up your command prompt. (Run>cmd) Now type     'ipconfig /release'     withouth the quotation marks an ensure there is a space inbetween the 'g' and the '/'. Now you should see that you have 'limited or no connectivity', access your control panel and click 'network connections'. Right-click your LAN (Local area network/connection) and click on properties. Now click the bubble for 'Use the following IP address:' and enter a random IP such as 192.168.0.1 and enter 255.255.255.0 as the sub-net mask, and hit OK. It should now say that you are connected, when in fact you are not, instead just go back to your LAN's properties and highlight the bubble for 'Obtain IP address automatically' again. You should now be fully connected with a different IP address. Video tutorial below (kudos to 'Remythehomeboi'

  2. Why do you want to change your Ip address?

  3. Does the IP address you're trying to change by chance start with 169.154?

If you get an error about a "Medium being disconnected", it means that it's not an active network connection.

Open a command prompt and type IPCONFIG /ALL to see your current network assignments. You may be attemting to change the wrong one... this could happen if a modem is installed with a connection attached to it, or if more than one NIC is available on your system.

  4. Go to youtube. And type "Change IP address". They have a lot of informative videos and methods on how to do it.
