I want to change my IP address?

Question

I have been told to disconnect my modem but not sure which connection to take out? I took out the lead that connects my internet and left it about 10 mins but the IP is still the same?

Any help please??

Why?

In a WAN it is quite difficult to request a new IP as this is assign on expiration from the ISP.  You should maybe wait 2, 4, 10 hours...

I personally think that someone is cheating you...

Or you would like to do something that is not really normal ;-)

disconnect modem usually means turn it off, unplug it & wait for 20 mins, who told you that would work anyways? try contacting your Internet Service Provider, they could help, but not sure,

Most of the time you cannot change your IP manually.  Even disconnecting the power to the modem and plugging it back in will most likely always leave you with the same IP.  The IP addresses are rolled around by your internet company.  You may need to call them and ask about the procedure to see if there's anything they can do on their end.

Hi sexybabe,

         To change your IP Address... follow the procedure below..

Goto Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Right Click on Local Area Connection and select Properties and once you select that a window  appears in which you select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and again click Properties below that. and there please select the option as assign IP address manually and enter the system IP address and get the PREFERRED AND ALTERNATE DNS SERVER IP address of your ISP and enter those and then click ok.. and now try to switch off the modem and then switch on and now am sure you can have internet with changed IP address..
