I only chage $2 and hour to babysit, and when I started babysitting a three year old I had no clue what I was in for. It's hard and I think I should charge more. I was thinking $4. Is there a way I can politely tell the people who hired me or should i just stick with the old rate?

  1. If you are not comfortable asking yourself, ask your parent to talk to them. But I think that they would think you are more professional if you ask them themselves.

Just talk to them nicely and say: "I have so much fun babysitting, (child's name), and I think that I should be paid a little more than what I am currently making." And then just state what you want to be paid.

    Hope I helped! :-)

  2. How old are you? You are selling yourself short and allowing yourself to be ripped off. You should at least be paid minimum wage. No one works for $2 an hour. Find out how much minimum wage is in your state and charge accordingly.

  3. make up a lie like you really need some medication and you cant afford it something to make them feel bad for you and give you more money without having to tell them there kid is a brat.

  4. u should say, ive decided that i need more money so im going to raise my price by 2 dollars

  5. ask for a raise?

  6. You could just be like i was wondering if there is anyway that we could raise the rate because i was thinking that 4 might be better for the tasks that i have to do. Just be like i completely understand if you are against it, it will let them know that you are very considerate of them. I get paid 10 dollars an hour and i actually had the opposite thing, i was thinking of telling them that that was too much. It turns out that they want to pay me that, because they have 2 kids under 3. I'm sure the people will understand, though. Good luck!

  7. stick with the old rate for a little while longer and then tell them that you think you deserve more. let them learn to trust you before you raise the price. good luck!
