I want to check on my cockatiels' eggs but she won't move...?

She won't move, even if I ask her to... after the third eggs she hasn't been out much (I know that's normal), but I want to be careful, I don't want her eggs to break...

How can I move her carefully for a few seconds to check on the eggs?

  1. Well she's not going to listen to you if you ask her. She's only incubating her eggs so best thing to do is leave her alone. Would you like it if someone moved you while you were caring for your baby?

  2. if she is caring for them, she is probably doing just fine. birds instinctually know how to nurture their eggs and won't break them unless. Does she have a mate, or did she just lay eggs? If she has a mate the eggs are probably fertile and doing fine, and that's why she doesn't want to move. If there is no mate, the eggs are obviously not fertile. She will continue to care for them until she realizes that they are not going to hatch, and then she will ignore them and you can remove them from the cage. Just let her be, and she and eggs will be fine.

  3. What can you do for the eggs that the bird isn't already doing? Leave it alone. Now, if you haven't provided sufficient nesting material, that is a different story but let the bird's instincts be the deciding factor here.

  4. Just leave her alone and let her do her job.  You will do more harm than good by poking around in there.
