I want to clean a Gevalia coffee maker by taking it apart....like taking the top off and the filter basket?

IT has been sitting for a long time and is very dirty. I am trying to take the plastic top off of the maker and also the part that the filter goes into? Anyone ever done that?

have you tried running a cycle with some

vinegar or bleach?

any one will work ( about 1 tablespoon ) Do Not Mix the two

then run it 3x with water alone to rinse out the chemicals

fill the coffee pot with vinegar and water ,more vinegar then water and let it run trough rinse by letting clean cold water run through the machine 2 or 3 times and it will be clean you can also use CLR but make sure that you rinse the coffee maker properly by running the clear water 2-3time there is no need to take the whole thing apart , soak the part where the filter is every second time that you make coffee.
