bought new lcd , have vga cable, but when i connect there is no picture. i set tv to PC mode , i also tried, all other configurations as well ( such as line 1, 2 etc.) i also have tried to change all the possible screen resolutions on my laptop without sucess. pressing funtion keys also made no difference. the enclosed leaflet which came with the lcd tv tells you under PC conection, how to load windows etc, unfortunately not what the procedure is, to convert the lcd into a computer screen. zk

  1. We have just managed to do this, it took alot of patience and trial and error, but finally we cracked it! You seem to be doing everything this calls for, so I can´t see where your problem arises. All I can say is once you have your pc wallpaper showing on your tv then you need to drag your film etc to the right of your screen and it will then show on your tv. Don´t give up it´s worth it. Good luck

  2. make sure you have connected vga lead to Correct socket on tv, as my LCD has two, one for pc, and one for Service......

tv and computer must BOTH be off then connect cable, and switch/boot them on.....

  3. Make sure that you are going from the output in your computer, to the Input in your TV. Then, put your TV on the proper channel, and press either FN+F5 or FN+F8 to get the display on your TV, and to change the display combination. If those keys don't work, try FN+F1, FN+F2, etc.

  4. If you boot your laptop with the TV connected by VGA with TV set to that input, it should come up on the TV automatically.  But what video modes you end up with depend upon the laptop video and capabilities of the TV.  Otherwise your laptop should have a utility for setting whether to use laptop screeen, external monitor, or both (either same or with other as expanded desktop).

But some LCD TV's (like my old 27") only tell the PC about PC video modes (like 1024x768) that are not necessarily optimum resolution or aspect ratio for the screen (which in that case is 1280x720 or at a motel was 1366x768).  But on my 40" LCD HDTV, VGA on same laptop recognizes and can use its full native screen resolution.

  5. You need either an s-video or HDMI cable.  Then you need to make sure your display settings are correct on the laptop.  Right click your desktop and go to 'properties'. You should find your display settings in there.

Once it's working, you'll be able to see your desktop wallpaper on your TV and then you can just drag windows from your laptop display, off the side off the screen (usually to the right) and onto your TV screen.
