I want to connect some LED's to my stereo system, but when i crank the power, it blows the bulbs.?

What should i add to the equation to keep the power to my speakers flowing, but cap the power to the leds?

what would be the use of the leds ? because if is for looks only you can use CCFL like the ones use for computer cases connect that to a 12v power supply and thats all.

but depends for what you want to use it.

beside depend of the conncetion you are using it to the receiver that will affect the sound quality because is drawing current like you said why do you think it blows because you are using current that it suppose to be for the speakers.

add a small motor before the leds to take some of the current
