after logging about 30 miles a week in highschool now i'm logging inconsistent miles. maybe 10 miles every other week.

i don't know how to get back into it b/c i feel so sluggish and it's been in the 90's. treadmill runs bore me to death. i love being out there on the trails.

on the other hand, i hike the trails i ran in highschool last yr a couple times a week. idk if that's respectable.

i'd appreciate a runner's POV on my inconsitencies. thank you.

  1. I'd call you a runner .......just not dedicated though.  Agree with you about the treadmill, it is horrible and boring to do.  You don't seem hungry enough to keep running and staying in the best shape you can .....but I do admire that you are trying to keep up with running/walking somewhat........just gotta be more consistent.  Good Luck

  2. I think you can still call yourself a runner! After runners get out of high school they either run in college, or for a club, and on the other hand, some just give it up. Usually beacause they were never good, and never enjoyed it. You sound like you care about your running, so keep it going! If you really do care, go on the trails at least three times a week. Running is (in my opinion) the best way to stay inshape. If you have no modivation continuing your inconsistency, go with a friend. Or enroll in one of those running clubs. Enter your self in a 5k run (There's always one going on).

I hope my advice has helped! Earn that title of a RUNNER,  girl, and feel good about it!

  3. I was a very competitive runner many many rears ago. I never did it just for the love of it or to get in shape. I did it to compete. Now, I'm trying to get back into it and it is difficult. Who cares if you are inconsistent? Running isn't all you are defined by. If you like to hike then hike. I've always only liked running with other people, but I've found now that just getting in shape and thinking clearer is a good thing and I enjoy the solitude of it. It's taken me 20 years to get back into it just a little bit. Everyone is different and you will have many more important issues in your life than how many miles a week you run. don't sweat it.
