  1. Buy a new one.  The answers about using a transformer would work, but it would be crazy.  About rewiring the heating element, that may be plausible, depending on how it's wired.  Not recommended for those without experience doing that kind of thing, however.  Best bet - buy a new one.


  2. Change the resistor.

    Or, if you find inside 2 of them identical and mounted in parallel, mount them in a series. But I think you'll find only one.

  3. Put a step-down transformer between your 220V source and the 110V appliance.

    If you are moving to a different country, buy an International adapter at Radio Shack.

  4. Any solution would cost more than the cost of a new one made for the correct voltage.

    But if you insist, you need a step down transformer rated at the wattage of the iron, probably 2000 watts. About US$120.
