  1. And don't forget to leave some extra for stapling to the underside of the chair pad!  You can always trim it down later but having a little extra fabric never hurts.  Measure how thick the cushion is that you are covering and add that number to your original measurement and add a couple more inches to pull under and staple.

  2. Each chair will take 2/3 yd using 36" wide fabric. If you have 4 chairs then you will need 2 2/3yds. If you go with wider fabric just divide the width by 24 to see how many across you can get. Tell them at the fabric store and they will sell you the correct amount of fabric.

  3. 24"x24" = 576 sq in

    144 sq in = 1 sq ft

    576 divided by 144 = 4 sq ft

    1 yard = 9 sq ft

9 divided by 4 = 2.25 ( = how many chairs you can do with 1 sq yd.)

  4. You can't divide by 36 inches because you are dividing square inches by inches. so what you have to do is divide 24" X 24" by 36" X 36".

So in reality you need less than a square yard for each chair!
