I do not want tile in my bath tub. I would like the walls to be completely made of cement. How would I go about creating this modern look?

  1. You could use durock but you'll have to deal with seams--I suppose you could use tape and "mud" for them and then skim the whole wall with thinset and then seal it.  Basically you would being performing all the steps to tile without putting in tile.  It won't be smooth like tile and cleaning will be difficult because of the texture.

  2. Not washable.  Too porous and will harbor mold and bacteria.   No thanks.

  3. can be done

    but a lot of work

you got to use the best quality concrete available

in europe it`s probably 250 grade

(that depends on which country your in)

I build swimming pools and 250 grade is 99.9999999999999 per cent water tight

    but it`s expensive

if you do go for it the best way to get your (concrete) effect design is to grind and then polish the concrete...

it takes a long time, but the finnished product is well worth it, best of luck
