I want to create my business name, but not sure what to do?

I want to start a recruitment company called Astral Recruitment, but there is already a UK company registered as this. I noticed, however that I could register my company name as Astral Recruitment Group... is this allowed, what would Astral Recruitment think??

Yes, it's allowed. I am assuming you mean by registering that you are forming a Ltd Company, if you are not you have a lot more freedom with your name, it doesn't matter if anyone else is using it, although if it is in the same area it can lead to confusion!

I worked for a company called world leadership group then switched to a company called world financial group. you might be able to get away with it. What does your business entail?

You can certainly register the name Astral Recruitment Group.

However, the word Group is a reserved/sensitive word. This means that in order to use it you would have to submit extra documentation to Companies House confirming that this new company will in fact be part of a group of Companies. You will have to provide the names and registration numbers of at least 2 other companies.  These two other companies would as lo have to have some sort of parent/daughter relationship with Astral Recruitment Group.

You can get around this by claiming that you PLAN on creating a group of companies, but you'll have to assure Companies House that you will be incorporating the two other companies within three months of the incorporation of Astral Recruitment Group.  You should also be able to list the proposed names.  If you do not register two other companies within 3 months you might have Companies House chasing you, and they may even dissolve your company.

When you decide what to do, I would recommend registering your company on-line. It is sooooo much easier than doing it in paper. I register lots of companies on behalf of clients and use Companies Made Simple, www.companiesmadesimple.com, to do it because they have bargain packages, from only about £25.
