  1. it's no different from removing a branch. but like a branch you might want to wait till fall to do it..........tom


  2. It is highly unlikely that two surface roots are major roots and that their loss will kill the tree or even set it back. Surface roots are often more for stability than nutrition.

  3. It could if they're major roots for the tree. This is actually a method of killing a tree. It's called root girdling.
