As we know I have limited options bcoz it is a rental. The walls are off white and the floors are harwood. I have a beautiful large dark blue and maroon carpet that I want to use. I am thinking about putting a 7 foot tsll lighted pal tree( is that a bad idea?) I have also see a lovely small palmtree waterfall to get the sound right. Now I still need to buy a nice couch and other stuff. I DO NOT want to use cane or jute as I dont want to go too far with the tropical theme but still make the home look breezy and tropical even in winters.

Please give me some tips about the color of the couch, wall papering, tapestries etc to make the look come out right and not confused.

  1. Hey.

    Nice  Idea.

    Id Say

Walls: 1  brown and the other sides light  light  blue.

    Floor-The carpet

    Ceiling-White

Couch-Brown with light light  blue pillows-not leather!

    Lampshade-Beads etc

    The tree-Great idea

Coffee Table-Brown border  with a glass pattern on the inside

I think that would be it :D

If  you like my ideas i have a few more colour ideas too.

And if u need anymore help just ask me  or something and ill help you ASAP.

  2. i would go with a real palm tree instead of a fake one. the real palm trees are sometimes cheaper than the fake ones, and also look nicer for the tropical theme.

you dont want anything too big and sometimg that will grow into a tree.

here are a few palms that stay a small size when in pots and will be cheap in most places

pygmy date palms. these are great palms and take decades to grow to the celing and above

majesty palms. very common in nursuries in the summer despite where you live. they may not have a name tag on them in the nursuy, but most of them are majesty palms

parlor palms. nice and small not bad for a table top decoration till it gets bigger.

for a couch you can buy something cloth that is white, kind of like a beach house couch. you dont need to go way out into the tropical theme, but with lots of natural light it will make a difference.

try to use alot of natural light becuase it will give a nice feel and may make it seem warmer in the winter. also you can get a table top founatin most for 20 dollars and that will help give a tropical feel.

plant the palms in a medium pot near the windows or by a place where people will look at it like by a tv. water your palms 3 times a week and give them some palm plant food 4 times a year.

some great palm trees are at home depot and lowes and some are about 7 feet tall for only 49 dollars, or you can get something a bit smaller for about 20 dollars and thaqts about 5 feet tall
