I saw a cute idea in an ad.  Floral cardstock on the top half, and a smaller non-competing print on the bottom half of the cover.  Then I glued (decoupaged) 3 pics of myself on that.  You can always use rick rack, zippers, buttons, lace, and any paper accent, like paper rick rack or scallops.

When I run out of creative ideas, I just go to the Craft store such as Hobby Lobby, go down the isle with all the scrapbook paper, pick which ones I like best, and then glue them onto a notebook cover for a cute touch, then label them. It's really easy, and you don't have to rack your brain trying to think of something cute for your notebook, especially since the isle has so many different colors and patterns of scrapbook paper.

Cut out pics or letters from magazines, or go online and print and cut pics out. Paste them onto your notebooks. Doodle things on, like swirls, peace signs, hearts, you get the idea. If you have any, you could also take some fabric and cut it into shapes and glue it on. Or, alternatively, you could put fabric on the whole thing. Make a collage on the front cover of it. Or put a picture of you and your friends and family, or a work of art you are proud of, and paste it on and work around that picture, or leave it as is. Or you could just get a nice picture of say, a flower and paste it on the cover. Get some Sharpies and just doodle all over! Stickers are good too, but don't settle for yucky, tacky ones. Choose NICE ones. :) Hope I helped!

When I decorate school notebooks, I like to label them by subject. I usually use sparkly or cute stickers that are just in letter form, and spell them out on the notebook. Glitter glue is also a nice touch. If you want to go for the artsy look, then search through some fashion magazines or like Seventeen or Cosmo Girl and cut out anything that looks cute or stands out and glue them onto your notebook. If you want it to look really polished, laminate your final product
