I want to delete messages only by page not my whole box.?

i have alot of messages to go through. i used to be abe to select the delete button, which would highlite per page, so i could unselect the ones i wantd to keep. so i could go through my mail quicker, but now i highlite the delete and all my mesgaes go

After reading a message just click the delete button.
