My next door neighbor is old and really mean, so she wont let me walk on her lawn, and I dont want to walk around to get to my friend Tobys house. that lives next to her.

I want to dig a tunnel under her house but I'm not sure how deep the hole needs to be. I know she has a crawl space, no basement. Any advice would be helpful...

  1. Your plan seems basically sound, but be sure to use timbers as you progress.

We don't want to hear later that you got trapped down there or that the mean old lady's house fell in.

Maybe you could just tunnel under the side of the house, use the crawnl space then tunnel again at the other side.

Try to keep at least 4 feet of earth between the top of the tunnel and her footings.

  2. Don't be a dush, walk your lazy @$$ around to your boyfriends house.  You probably need the exercise.

  3. don't dig under her house.

it would be way safer if you dig under her yard.

  4. Nice idea. Probably not legal though, and in safety terms a potential liability minefield. Try undermining her house and see if it falls down......You'll need pit stays and a water pump though, if you are near the water table. Oh yes, and a canary for firedamp...

  5. As much maximum depth as possible before touching the water bed.
