I want to disk defragmenter, I get message Disk Fragmenter has Chkdsk is scheduled to run on volume :(C), Huh?

Please run Chdsk/F I don't get it, I never had this problem before.

  1. This is often a good idea.  Disk Defragmenter doesn't want to propagate possibly corrupted system data, so it sometimes suggests a chkdsk run.  

    In general, running chkdsk on C: is a little tricky, because it can’t fix anything (with XP and probably Vista) while the operating system is running.  It has to be run BEFORE the operating system starts up.   Here's what to do:

    1. With Windows running, click the Start->Run menu option.

    2. Type    

    cmd  

    in the text box and press Enter.

    3. A black "DOS box" will appear.  Enter  

    chkdsk  /f

    and press Enter.

    4. A message will come up telling you it can't run and asking if it should schedule a run on the next reboot.  Answer yes.

    5. Restart your machine.  Chkdsk will run automatically. It won't run on any subsequent boots unless it's interrupted this time.

    Don't expect to be able to read the results.  When it finishes, it continues with the boot in about five seconds.
