I want to do Kayaking...?

I'm 14 and I want to start Kayaking as a team sport, but where would I find that in Southern California?

Hi Chris, I'm not aware of kayaking as a team in SoCal, but you can certainly paddle Outrigger Canoe as a team sport.  You'll get to paddle on the open ocean, in 6-person boats that are 42 feet long.  The season is in full swing right now - but starts up again in the spring.  There are weekly races, medals and lots of hard training.  There are age divisions for 19 and under, and the racing action is quite exciting!

There are kayaking clubs that get together for social paddles and do trips together.  There is the San Diego Kayak Club, the California Kayak Friends Club, and Valley Wide Kayak Club.  I don't know if any of them do any racing as a team, but there are lots of good people involved in them.  You may need a parent to join the club or go to events with you, with liability risks being what they are.
