I want to do a home detox safely. Can you help?

I have been eating over the last year really unhealthy food (though I have managed to avoid processed foods). I have put on some unhealthy weight and I want to detox.

I can't afford to go to a Health Spa, is there anyone out there who can help? Before go go back to my healthy eating plan.

I'm very sensitive to a lot of things and so need to use gentle ingredients when consuming something for a detox.  Here is what I'm getting ready to do.  First you need to cleanse the colon as I'm sure you already know. So far the safest colon cleanser I have come across is a formula from http://www.800herbdoc.com/ it is a formula from Dr. Schulze. Here is what it says to do from his handbook:

    Formulae:

          Curacao and Cape Aloe leaf (Aloe spicatal and ferox), Senna leaves and pods (Cassia officinalis), Cascara Sagrada aged bark (Rhanmus purshiana), Barberry rootbark (Berberis vulgaris), Ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinalis), Garlic bulb (Allium sativum) and African Bird Pepper (Capsicum africana).

    Therapeutic Action:

          This stimulating tonic is both cleansing, healing and strengthening to the entire gastro-intestinal system. It stimulates your peristaltic action ( the muscular movement of the colon ) and over time strengthens the muscles of the large intestine, halts putrefaction and disinfects, soothes and heals the mucous membrane lining of your entire digestive tract. It will also draw out poisons, toxins, heavy metals such as mercury and lead, and even remove radioactive material such as strontium 90. This formula will also remove over 3,000 known drug residues. Its natural mucilaginous properties will soften old hardened fecal matter for easy removal and also make it an excellent remedy for any inflammation in the stomach and intestines.

    Formulae:

    From there you need to cleanse the liver and you should do something very gentle. I know of some people who do liver cleanses by taking epsom salts, olive oil and apple juice. I would not recommend that because you could cause a stone from your gallbladder (If you have any stones which some people do and do not know it because they can't always be seen on the ultrasound) to get stuck in a bile duct and then you end up in the E.R. needing an emergency surgery.  Also a woman had wrote of her experience using epsom salts by consuming a small amount and she ended up in the ICU.  Some people say you can cleanse the liver by consuming pure freshly squeezed lemon juice throughout the day over a period of weeks along with plenty of turmeric. Which you can get at your grocery.  Of course you should look up every ingredient in any thing you consume and make sure it is safe and doesn't have any dangerous side effects including anything I have written here. Also lemon juice is said to cleanse the blood but it needs to be freshly squeezed and not something reconstituted or out of a bottle.   3. Hmm.. is health spa the lemonade diet? If so an acquaintance did it for close to three months (wedding dress diet. lol!)

    She said that she allowed her self to eat up to three organic apples a day, especially in the beginning when she was having the hunger pains. She did the whole system along with the tea.

    I have a few other friends that did it for about 10-25 days and had great results. the best advice I've heard (thinking of going on it, I have a gala in June) is to eat only fruits and veggies in very small portions when u go off the diet.

    Since your body isn't used to eating anymore. Also to make sure there is a bathroom nearby, and to try to take the laxative tea at night a as soon as u wake up (a few hours before u have to leave the house for work).

  4. All you need is plenty of fiber and roughage that you can get from a Mediterranean diet, Pritikin diet and a vegetarian diet.

    Investigating those diets might be a useful exercise.

  6. Here's what you do. Take a cold, cold shower, but not for too long. Just long enough that you feel really cold. Then hop out and wrap yourself naked in a blanket. (don't dry off) Stay there for at least an hour. It will take you through four healing stages. The last one being the detox stage. This is exactly what they would do in a spa, only they would wrap you in a cold sheet and do all the work for you. Good luck I hope this helps!

  7. Drink lots of boiled water with fresh lemon in it. Take plenty of vitamin C and eat a healthy diet. IT comes down to willpower at the end of the day. Just remember the better you look after yourself the better people see you.

  8. Nothing you do will "detox" you.  This is new-age nonsense, and it is not needed.  Your liver and kidneys do all the "detoxing" you will ever need.  Stick to your healthy eating plan, there are no retained "toxins" that you need to remove.
