  1. Identity  2  or  3   common  disabilities ,

Then   research  different  tools  that  compensate  for  the  disability .

And  since  it  is  a  school   project ,  maybe  make  one of  the  issues of  focus ,   those  with  dyslexia .

  2. How about one that is commonly missed, vision.

Most people look at vision from the context of acuity.

Yet there are many more disorders like problems with eye teaming, depth perception and convergence that go undiagnosed.

You can have some hands on for some people to use such as using some prisms, alternating lenses in a set of glasses (cheap ones at WalMart). And some alternating text on paper so that people can get a feel for what it is like to have a vision disorder.

Its kinda like a hidden disorder and affects reading and overall school performance and it is often not discovered. Maybe it would raise some awareness in your area.

I can help you get off to a start with some material, email me if you are interested.

Here is a link that can give you some reading on it.

  3. Do you know someone that is diabled?? The most common diability that had been in the news  with celebrities is autism.

Jenny McCarthy and Holly Robinson Peete sons have this disorder. Research web sites and visit the library. I have a son that has ADHD and know alot about his disorder.
