  1. Animal shelter, library, hospital are organizations that accept volunteers free of charge.

  2. If you want to volunteer your time for free, then keep it local. Start with your heart; do you like children? Animals? Enviornment? Academics?

If you like working with children, there are Sunday nurseries, daycares, and preschools who might welcome an extra pair of hands. Call churches and schools and ask. If you like animals, contact your local animal shelter, or start your own dog-walking business in the neighborhood. Nature lovers can contact environmental organizations and ask about clean up activities and fund raisers in your community. Maybe you could help out at a Girl Scout day camp or other nature project. If you're academically gifted, offer to tutor younger kids who aren't as good at reading or math as you are. You can ask if the library needs help with its used book sale, or if volunteers can come in and shelve books.

If you have initiative and a willing heart, you most certainly will NOT be bored - ever.

    Best to you, my friend.
