I want to do an adoption with a do it youself legal kit?

problem is- you get those pages with the numbered lines on both sides, how do you type that up? I don't really undertsand where I'd get the template to retype all of that- inserting our personal information....

help???

Google 'adoption forms (insert your state here)'.

I used California because that is where I live.  This site came up, and it has all the state forms in pdf format:  http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/selfhelp/fam...

You can fill them out, and print.  :)  It also gives information on local (county & city) court requirements.

if there was anything that shouldn't be do it yourself, it's this one.  if you don't do something right, you could lose the kid, s***w up your family, destroy the child's psyche.  hire an attorney for this one.

Step-parent adoptions are easy & cheap -- if the natural parent consents.  Lawyers don't generally charge much for them, but you need to do it right, so you need a lawyer.  "Full legal custody" does not mean the other parent's rights have been terminated.
