There is a website for looking up local volunteer activity, and I think their is a under 21s website too

Contact your local Council for Voluntary Services.  Warrington CVS is at http://www.warringtoncvs.org.uk/  They'll soon find you a post.

Try the Red Cross, your local hospital, Salvation Army or local residential care homes (You might have to be CRB checked to do this because of law changes)
