  1. Go ahead and sign up. You will have plenty of tI'me to shape up during the class where it should be a good workout. This might be silly since your a guy but when im tanner I feel skinnier. Maybe you could go to the tanning bed a few times before then to boost your confidence.

  2. don't worry about it. if you stick with water polo, even in just the first season you will lose a lot of weight. just think of it as an opportunity to not only have fun and learn a new sport, but an incentive to lose weight as well. When i was a freshman in high school i weighed like, 155 lbs, but by my sophomore year, i weighed 128. So dont worry and have fun! i love water polo!

  3. Unless you are good swimmer, I don't advise it.  Get in shape, swim a lot, and do it next year.

Its very vigorous, and being tired in a pool where you can't touch bottom and have your nose out of the water is no place to be.

  4. i've done varsity water polo for three years and it i really not that bad. i love the sport and it is THE BEST SPORT EVER!! i started as a freshman and was 6' and 200lbs (so a little more than you) but now i am a junior and wiegh 151lbs and am 6'3". i lost 15 pounds in a week and a half. you lose a ton of wieght swimming. its better for you than swimming. you lose almost 10x more cal. swimming. and if they make fun of you than who cares. just swim hard lose wieght like me and show them up.

  5. Being big is an advantage.....take this advice men im a collegiate water polo player I play for Queens college in NY we're a DIV II team.....the other day we were at Northerns which is a tournament where all the teams in the northeast compete to go to Easterns and ultimately make it to the NCAA championships....neways there is this big kid on the MIT squad....even thought he's not the fastest swimmer u give that kid the ball in the hole position which is the mid forward guy and he will tear the net up...so dont be scared me give it a try....u never know u could end up playing college ball.

  6. heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell no. Im about your age and i play water polo too, you're big and thats a great avantage. Being big is way better than being small. Small and skinny people ALWAYS get raped by bigger guys in the pool, and you will notice that once you guys start playing games. Oh and don't worry about being embarrassed, i got a big guy on the team too. Nobody even thinks or notices it.

  7. Well try to skinney down, but it doesnt matter unless you can stay treading water for a long time

  8. Might be worth a talk with the coach. If you have some ability, the coach might calm you down quite a bit. If not, maybe you can spend a year working out to get in better condition in preparation for trying out next time. No harm in that. I don't know if there are cuts involved, and how well you know the guys on the team, but take that in mind as well.

  9. this sport is the best to lose weight. im 14 2 n im kinda big. its a huge advantage to have 4 the sport, especially if u can swim well. im kind fast and im big so im perdy good at it. if u take this year to play on jv and work on ur swimming and basic skills u will be preddy good especially if u can go to all the summer and year round work-outs.

ps always go to as many games as u can to watch if ur really serious u can always learn a lot from watching more experienced players!! good luck!!!
