iMesh, it's now 100% legal like iTunes. Everything you do on it is legal as copyrighted material on the free downloads is filtered out; and it is also approved by the RIAA.

beemp3.com is really good and you run a low risk of beig sued. Frostwire (limewire without the spyware) is also really great, or morpheus.

Finally the king is bit-torrent or usergroups but those are hard to use, uspecially usenet/usergroups.
