I want to download our videos from our camcorder into a CD?

We have a Sony camcorder and have successfully downloaded our videos into our computer. Now, I would like to store them in CDs. I have CDs at home that say DVD-R. Are these the correct types of CDs to download videos into? I downloaded a short video into a DVD-R and put it into our DVD player and it said "it cannot read it". Help!?!

  1. Dear, DVD-R is a compact disc, but it is not a CD!

When you say CD, you refer to ca compact disc that has the simple formats to producing. Audio and Video production on CDs are very simple and every one with a simple software like Nero can burn a ACD and VCD that can play on any home players. But DVD refers to Digital Versatile Disc that has higher density than CDs and Audio and Video production on DVD is a little difficult.

To burn your video on DVD-R, you have to convert your video to MPEG-2 for the video and AC3 for the Audio. Maybe  these are not familier for you, and that is the difference to  CD. Nero can simply convert your video to compatible video or audio cd, but the story for DVD is another thing. You have to use another software like Sonic DVD, Sony DVD Architect, Adobe Encore DVD and ... to convert and burn directly on your DVD-R.

  2. You need a DVD burner, your DVD burner would say on the outside cover, DVD RW. Maybe finalize the session. I'm not completely understanding your question.

I understand that you have already downloaded your video camera to your PC. Is this correct?

Did you burn the DVD-R or is your camcorder a minidvd camcorder?

If you have a mini dvd camcorder….

You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer 's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (i downloaded handbrake file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.
