I can honestly say that I'm a good artist, but I have trouble drawing what I see. I like photography also, so I took pictures of my sister's friends newly born twins the other day and she loved them. After sending them to her she wants to hire me to take more pictures, and along side she asked me to draw them for her, shes heard that I can draw really good. Problem is, I'm really insecure because I can't draw what I see. I need to practice more. The only way I can do it is by using the grid method. There pictures are in my computer, how can I do the grid lines perfectly so I can transfer it on paper?

  1. you could try grid idea, with proportional ratio from pictures to sketchpad, if to photo was 6x6" and the paper was 12x12", then you would double ratio, possibly print out copy and place outline grid over top, it would be convenient if you had projector, to view picture on wall/ screen in larger format, and then draw freehand, or if twins were sleeping long enough that you could sketch outline in rough and finish later with details, drawing what you see make take more practice with still objects, outdoors, trees, cars, for drawing people and animated features does take a little longer, have good set of pencils for shading, have fun,☺
