I basically want to know what would be ideal time to start from Bangalore. Based on the conditions of road, it is possible to drive without overnight stay assuming that two people are driving.

  1. takes around 15 hrs. The road is good till pune and after that it's ok in some places and then really cool.

It's good to go on a long drive. It's really pleasant.

  2. Leave Banglore at 05:30hrs IST so that you can save a lot of time exiting B'lore as you will avoid traffic. You will have to drive towardsTumkur and the condition of the road is good. It's the stretch between Tumkur and Chitradurga which is still under construction and will probably take you the longest to cover. Once you cross Chitradurga the roads get better and better which makes driving easier. The stretch between Hubli and Belgaum is dangerous so avoid driving fast because this stretch runs through villages and you will see a lot of villagers crossing the highway or driving their vehicles on the wrong side of the road. Once you cross Belgaum, your drive is like butter with the most amazing roads you can ever get right through to Mumbai through the toll express way. You will need to be on NH4 all through from Banglore to Mumbai. Don't have to worry about rest rooms and Food on the way as there are Reliance bunks *** A1 plaza's which are good where you can do a pit stop on your way. Have a safe trip.Your route will be Banglore to Tumkur to Chitradurga To Hubli to Dharvar to Belgaum to Kholapur to Satara to Pune to Mumbai. You can do the entire stestch in about 16hrs and can be done without an overnight stay.

  3. road is narrrow and poorly maintained, figure 2-4 hrs min
