  1. There's a lot of misinformation floating around here, but I am 100% certain (not 99.9%; I am 100% certain) that at this time, NO, you do not.

    Here are the current requirements, from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security:

    You'll be doing a land crossing, of course.

    Also, a March 2008 press release detailing the planned WHTI rules, for full implementation in June 2009:

    This will generally mean the need for passports starting in June 2009, but NOT YET.  Still, make sure you have appropriate documentation.  Driver's license or non-driver ID, and birth certificates.  Check the site for a 100% correct answer.

  2. Well, I was in Canada a few years ago and all I needed was a government issued ID and my birth certificate.

    Things may have changed, but I have an uncle who goes to Canada regularly to hunt and I do not think he has ever needed a passport.
