So today was the first day of Ramadan and i got to fast my second time yay because last year i threw up after the sun went down and i ended my fast. Anyway fasting is one of the pillars of Islam and i told my sis that i have to do it she said its ok with her as long as i drink alot of water and eat alot before starting my fast but my mom she doesn't want me to fast cause she is worried about my heath cause she thinks i'm beyond skinny. So i plan to fast tomorrow but is it a sin cause i'm going aginst my mother's will?

  1. The Bible teaches that the will of God (or in this case, Allah) supersedes the will of the parent when what that parent wants goes against the teachings of the faith.

Makes sure you eat fruits and veg. before the fast (ie. not junk food) and you should be fine.  Fruit juices (except V8) don't count as they are mostly sugar.  Don't load up on food (or else, what would be the point of going on a fast?).  Eat at your normal times.

  2. It depends on how old you are, Ramadan won't hurt you, It only brings benefits but your mom is being a mother.

Assure her that you will be okey and tell her you need to practicing fasting.

  3. I say no matter what you must fast. I can guarantee that it will be worth it!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!! Oh and by the way your mother is the one commiting the sin from stopping you. I think that this is Islam we're talking about and you should fast. I'm 11 and I'm going to fast everyday. Even if I get sick. Besides, you're older than 9, that means YOU HAVE TO.

  4. Ahh... See thats tricky. Try to make a compromise with your mom, say things like "Hey, Yo mommaGdawg (or just mom would do), how about I try fasting, and if I start feeling ill/weak I'll stop but if I don't I'll continue to do it as Allah commands me to do so and therefore I must"

You know what I mean when I say that? If not let me say it again:

"Look, mother, I know you don't want me to fast, it's just I really feel like I must and I think I am capable, but if I EVER feel like it's becoming a burden then I will stop"

But then you must also stop if it feels like a burden because it's a sin (or at least I heard somewhere it was) to fast when you are not in the right health to do so.

  5. well Almighty God says in the Quran:

"Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur-an, as a guide to mankind, also Clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put you to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful". (2:185)

so if you're sick you should not fast now  but if you're not the you must say no to your mother and fast the month and it won't be a a sin

    God says:

"And We have enjoined on man goodness (Ihsan) to his parents, and if they contend with you that you should associate (others) with Me, of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them, to Me is your return, so I will inform you of what you did."(Al-Qur'an 29:8)

and there is a hadith also but i don't remember it, it was about a women who asked  her son not to go to AlIsha' prayers because it was so cold, and prphet Muhammad told that man NOT TO OBEY HIS MOTHER and come to prayers.
